Adrenaline rush for the Storm this week
June 20th 2008 09:19
When the Nth Qld Cowboys step up to Olympic park this Saturday night, everybody north of the border will be watching with anticipation.
LIke a good old horror movie, fans of the Cowboys will hope to see a team strong enough to make a run for the door with pride intact.
Their opponents in the Storm will spit raw. They will cause mass grief and confusion. They have more moves in attack than Jamiraqui himself and that won't sit well with the Cowboys.
Melbourne will keep the Cowboys vexed throughout the 80 minutes. They will be eager to pay up fans with wild football, capable of echoeing right into the hearts of many faithful in Townsville.
On a cold Olympic Park, the Storm look set to rock against a club intoxicated by injuries, suspensions and bad form. This is Melbourne's chance to speak. They will cause a rush of excitement throughout Victoria as their premiership campaign bounces back to the form not even tweeters can withstand.
After two years of domination, the Storm have become a show. Many of their opponents roll out the red carpet at their home ground due to the aura of dominace they have there. Kind of like the scavenger giving way to a lion when meat is still fresh.
Two years, and the Storm continue to roll solo, never ones to vocal on about a performance. They are always moving for new ways to improve, or so, entertain a crowd eager for their side to produce another trampling effort Melbourne style.
People down south have jumped out of seats amd pumped fists thanks to the Storm. They are one team that always up the beat. That's how they dominate, and that's why Melbourne party when the Storm play at Olympic Park.
Since Craig Bellamy came to the fore, he has rearranged the place with blaze. From a team of also rans, to a team with a divine colt following and respect.
Opposition teams have literally become addicted to the way the Storm play. Many now lift at the occasion of playing Melbourne ,yet they seem to always produce misfit performaces when challenging them away from home.
Like the cruel Underbelly underground, Melbourne has really become one of the least likely places for teams to fix a frown. The poor Cowboys are about to get a dose of the unpleasant evening that can be the Storm.
You'd have to put more chance on Whisky giving Nth Qld the smile they so desperately crave like never before.
If the Cowboys do not want to get mashed tomorrow evening, a smart thing to do would be to not throw your hands ups. The Storm, like a great white, can sniff out fear from miles away.
If one scent of fear comes through the Cowboys ranks,Melbourne will intervene and attack. They will cook up something not even Ainsley Harriet could dish up.
To see the Cowboys win tomorrow evening would be as miracleous as Amy Winehouse quitting drugs. That thought alone should pump up Thurston and co. to fight.
The Storm however will not take any prisoners. They haven't done so for the past two years.
