Anasta ready to fight at last
June 30th 2008 09:24
Anasta being labelled over-rated has finally ceased. The fake music has stopped and many Blues will be worshipping on his efforts to get NSW Origin supremecy.
He is in every person's prayers down south. All the hail mary's are going towards the Greek man who for a while there, never had the support and respect he deserved.
Until now.
While only the most drastic NSW supporter will hold up a crucifix, Anasta will at last have all the respect and trust that comes with playing in an Origin decider.
Despite playing nine Origins, Anasta's time at the pinnacle of football has had its fair share of lows.
It was only last year in Origin two the Roosters five-eighth got dropped after a shocker at Suncorp.
Currently playing the best football of his career, there is nothing QLD can dish up now to threaten Anasta'a game.
The Maroons will do everything to stop him and Mitchell Pearce from gaining control. It's a known fact.
But a whole generation of future Blues will be in the crowd come Wednesday night, their enthusiasim and support seeking to guide Anasta home.
While many are yet to convert the fact that Anasta is the key man, deep down the selectors knew he always the right choice for both Origin one and two.
Although the Blues performed well in Sydney, they were handed a thumping on the dry surface of Suncorp. A venue built for speed and skill, not power.
While Greg Bird is an Origin player of the highest calibre, putting him at five-eighth was a waste.
If their position is anything to go by, The Roosters have excelled through the efforts of Anasta.
With space and time, the man can take control of any situation, hence his teams standing in the NRL.
A sharpshooter in general play, Anasta has stood tall under Fittler's guidance and NSW are about to prosper big time.
It's important to understand that Anasta is very similiar to Bird, only skillful.
He can a run a football with no worry and his passing and kicking game is of the highest calibre.
Now more than ever, Anasta has added the sting of opportunity to his arsenal of skills.
When his team dominates, Anasta has shown this season the ability to strike the killer blow, early enough to snatch victory.
It's the sole reason why the Roosters have won a lot of their matches by margins over 13 points.
Now cracking every critic in his path, Anasta has become the type to gamble on a situation and roll out the right plays like loaded dice in a casino.
Breathing confidence like never before, Anasta has come back to Origin football ready to rule this time.
His prior Origin appearances have left little to be desired. The responses of a future 'Freddy Fittler' never eventuated and his career became constipated.
In 2006 - his first year with the Roosters, was the low of lows.
Battling the hype surrounding his signature as the Roosters saviour, Anasta's game and mind changed.
With performances worth beating up on, Anasta never got in the groove and with reason, had surgery to end a sorrowful season.
Walking on the streets of Bondi with his model girlfriend, the former Bulldog looked for a clean start in 2007.
Although the start matched that of 2006 - including a 56-0 thrashing at the hands of Manly, Anasta did not drop his game this time.
The man took a step backwards as he saw a light to bright to stare at. The end of the tunnel brought about a change in coach and attitude.
Fittler took over and like a spell to revive zombies, both the Roosters and Anasta awoke. A breath of fresh air and life.
Now running as the best five-eighth going round, Anasta's chest is now pumped up for the performance of his career.
All bystanders waiting for Anasta to fail have subsided into mess. All those expecting Anasta to fall have been dealt every ounce of blushes that comes with such deranged thoughts.
Anasta had pledged his allegiance to Fittler's teachings and thus has became one of the most influential players in the NRL.
Every piece of his confidence will serve the Blues well in their battle to beat the Maroons.
After re-gaining the iron on what was such a promising career early on, Anasta is as hard as they come.
The man is finally ready for battle.
