Greg Inglis all natural

May 10th 2008 08:56
Inglis in all his glory against the Kiwis

Sometimes players make it to the big time through mere talent.

Others however just possess a natural gift.

Greg Inglis is a combination of all the above. He has power, flair and skill that really puts him among an elite group of players that grace the game of rugby league.

Last nights test against New Zealand was made all the more special by Inglis’s freakish ability that left the 32,000 strong crowd applauding in appreciation.

For those that missed Inglis’s magic, the Australian centre grabs the ball in mid air beyond the dead ball line, flicks it back to the waiting arms of Mark Gasnier who scores one of the most dazzling tries you will ever see in a test match.

It really was something that needed to be seen to be believed and that’s what Inglis offers in the toughest code in the world.

The NRL has been blessed with great talent in recent seasons with the likes of Folau, Pearce, Carney and Inu making their mark in the competition.

But Inglis, at just 22, seems to have all the necessary skills to become one of the greatest backline players to ever play the game.

He has already won a grand final, let alone the Clive Churchill medal, and has played for both Queensland and Australia in representative football.

In all reality he has accomplished everything rugby league has to offer, and he is not even in his mid twenties yet.

The only accomplishment that has eluded the Melbourne Storm star is the Dally M Medal, which is awarded to the best player at the end of every NRL season.

But if Inglis keeps producing plays as often as Pele scores, this man looks set to take the rugby league world by thunderstorm, excuse the pun.

He really is worth the price of admission alone and will always be an entertainer to all that witness him play.

Some play the game with desperation and seriousness, but Inglis seems to play the game for fun and when he opens his box of tricks, it is fun for all.

The only thing that will seem to disrepute his playing days will be injury.

But with so much talent in his arsenal, it would be fair dinkum cruel if this prosperous talent of Australian Rugby is dispossessed from fans of all ages.

He has become a role model to all that play the game of rugby league and that is the very definition of a truly inspiring player.

But even if you don’t take interest in the game of Rugby league, just sit back for a moment one afternoon and witness the all natural talent that is Greg Inglis.
