Kimmorley signing massive for Dogs

Brett Kimmorley's signing for the Canterbury Bulldogs is simply huge for the club.
For many years they have been in developement hell in terms of producing decent halfbacks in recent seasons.
Not since the days of Steve Mortimer has there been such an established half in a Bulldogs unit breaming with forward power.
Brent Sherwin looked to solve this puzzle for a while when he was among the top three halfs in the competition in 2002-04. Since then, Sherwin experienced great decline in form and hence he moved overseas to the English Super League.
Ben Roberts has been good for the Bulldogs but is not brilliant. Roberts can cause problems when running towards the defence but really lacks the passing game to threaten most teams in the NRL. His long kicking game has been solid but his kicks close to the line need fine-tuning.
To say that Sonny Bill Williams is your deadliest player in attack says alot about the lack of depth the Bulldogs have in the halves.
The recent signing of Joe Williams from Penrith could provide the Dogs with added speed and energy to their failing power game.
Most teams in today's competition really rely on speed and flair to win them games in the NRL.
You only have to look at teams such as the Storm, Cowboys and Tigers to realise the speed they have that consistently burns their opposition into submission.
The Bulldogs really lack these qualities at the moment and lack the structure to really disrupt the premiership contenders in 2008.
They are going through a transition fase at the moment and will be eager to get thinks back on track as soon as possible.
Brett Kimmorley's signature is a massive step in the right direction.
Kimmorley will add class and composure to a Bulldogs pack that desperately needs these qualities to compete with the big guns.
The Australian international still has one of the finest kicking games in the league and his passing technique is first class.
Last weeks game against the Cowboys showcased to all that there is plenty of skill left in Kimmorley's game.
He guided his team around beautifully to grant them a valuable two points in the toughest competiton in the world.
The Bulldogs will be licking their lips at Kimmorley's recent performance for the Sharks. If he arrives at Belmore after a terrific 2008, The Bulldogs will be set to bark up the premiership ladder once again.
