NRL preview - RD 14

June 11th 2008 10:59
Eels superstar Feleti Mateo will ensure a grand spectacle when the Eels clash with the Tigers

As the dust settles on Origin 2, the focus will once again point to the reason why these men play league in the first place - To win a premiership. The road to glory begins now.

Sydney Roosters Vs Penrith Panthers

The Roosters displayed their worst performance under Freddy Fittler's guidance, despite missing 4 Origin players. They will be primed for a huge performance against the Panthers, who were outmuscled by the Sharks at Penrith. This match could come down to the last few minutes, but with the power the Roosters have in the forwards, they should sneek home.

Cronulla Sharks Vs New Zealand Warriors

The Sharks are playing solid football and have discovered some of the flair in attack that has eluded them so far this season. They were gutsy against the Panthers and deserve to be strong favourites at home. The Warriors were left gutted by their loss to the Rabbitohs at home and this looks set to be a true acid test in terms of what they can acheive in 2008. The return of Price and Tate will be good, but the Sharks will do everything necessary to ensure victory infront of their fans.

Canberra Raiders Vs Brisbane Broncos

The Raiders have struggled in recent weeks, with too many errors in their game. Injury hasn't helped their cause but on a Sunday afternoon in Canberra, anything can happen. The Broncos were without most of their players in the loss to the Dragons and will be primed to get the two points against an injury prone Raiders outfit. The Broncos should win but they should be weary nonetheless in the nations capital.

Wests Tigers Vs Parramatta Eels

On a Sunday afternoon, this game has the potential to be one of the most entertaining affairs in season 2008. The Eels are slowly hitting the form that many predicted would challenge Melbourne for the title in 2008. The Tigers at home are brilliant to watch and the return of Benji Marshall in recent weeks has bolstered their attack tenfold. The Eels have a great record against the Tigers in recent seasons but that will count for nothing in a contest that should prove to be one hell of a spectacle. Toss of a coin - Tigers.

Nth Qld Cowboys Vs Newcastle Knights

The Knights were gutsy and tough in their win over the Dogs in a terrible game of football. They will have to keep their errors in check in humid QLD. The Cowboys are on their last legs this season and must win this clash to ensure survival in 2008. Thurston has to perform or the Cowboys will bid goodbye to their season. Through sheer desperation at home, the Cowboys might win this albeit in a very close encounter.
