The stampede starts now for Brisbane
July 11th 2008 08:34
The idea of Brisbane at full strength will prove to be a nightmare for Bulldogs coach Steve Folkes.
The worst fear that comes with facing the Broncos with Darren Lockyer back from injury bears no mercy for a Bulldogs side facing real prospects of finishing with the wooden spoon this season.
It's scary to think Justin Hodges is the only man missing from a squad that will unleash hell come Sunday afternoon.
While the Bulldogs are alone in their own zone, cold in discomfort, the Broncos will not care nonetheless. The only problem bothering Wayne Bennett's men will be the prospect of stopping dynamo Sonny Bill Williams.
Best Believe if Brisbane block him out, Suncorp stadium will be in for a feast of tries. Most of them going towards the maroon faithful.
Although Brisbane will look to knock the Bulldogs out early, the thought of Sonny Bill, Andrew Ryan and Reni Maitua finally hitting some form in this contest will save the Canterbury club from a fair whacking come Sunday.
Its fair to say all critics including myself are brainwashed at the prospect of seeing a Brisbane victory. Many believe Darren Lockyer will gain control once again and the emotion that comes with such a return looks to spark the QLD side into action.
But entertainment can be a danger. Intertwine it against a struggling side desperate to finish their year on a high and you could witness a game full of error.
If anything, the Bulldogs should be the ones in the sanctum. They have nothing to lose and really should imploy an attacking mindset for this encounter.
Everybody just feels Brisbane will win so why not take the plunge? The Bulldogs must relate back to the great aura that comes with playing in the NRL.
Although a lean season can cause some hate, every single statement the Bulldogs make from here on in will seek many of their devoted following to worship for better things come 2009.
The platinum performaces of the Bulldogs of war are non-existant. The metamorphosis in playing style the NRL has witnessed has left the Canterbury club behind.
Injuries have already crucified a side that lost both Mark O'Meley and Willie Mason to the Roosters. Journalists all over are burning off their chances.
Not even an attorney could save the Bulldogs from regaining all the dime lost this season. Their season resembling that of a loose canon.
But for all the sorrowful pain the Bulldogs have suffered, the Broncos will not hesitate to produce infront of their own batch of loyal fans.
Darren Lockyer and co. will became the prosecutors convicting the Bulldogs to a season well below par.
As swiftly as one can act, both Lockyer and Wallace will look to etch their fingerprints on a steeden that will cross the line more times than Cathy Freeman did in her hey day.
The grudge that comes with having so many involved in Origin will unleash the Broncos as a side full of menace. A menance the Bulldogs will be unlikely to contain.
The mood in Brisbane never seems to alter. Despite some lean performances, the Broncos have always had enough loaded in the tank to ensure a contest.
When they have been under assualt, Wayne Bennett's men know how to protect themselves in the midst of a crisis.
The injury to Darren Lockyer, the suspension to Justin Hodges and Wayne Bennett's defection to Sydney never seemed to fluster the Broncos.
A true reflection of a QLD side.
Now at full strength and with Lockyer back in the mould, the Broncos will now vibe well into Sunday afternoon and possible late September.
